Important CE Information While at the
National Convention
I forgot to pick up my CE card at the
end of the educational session, where can I
find it?
Please check the bulletin board by the
AMTA Registration desk on-site at the Rosen
Shingle Resort as unclaimed cards will be
posted there.
I lost my CE card, can I get a duplicate?
Yes, you can obtain a blank CE card from
either the room monitors or at the AMTA
Registration desk on-site at the Rosen
Shingle Resort.
I lost my CE card and I want to obtain
credit for the classes that I already took.
Please visit the AMTA Registration desk
on-site at the Rosen Shingle Resort to
confirm classes attended.
The educational session was not what I
expected, I would like a refund.
Unfortunately, we cannot refund fees for any
educational sessions. However, you may be
able to attend another class if there is
space available. Please go to the AMTA
Registration desk on-site at the Rosen
Shingle Resort.
Can I switch classes?
If there is availability in the other
class, this might be possible. Please go to
the AMTA Registration desk on-site at the
Rosen Shingle Resort where staff will verify
that you were registered for the other
class, have you turn in your course ticket
and determine if there is room to switch
into another class.
What are the continuing education requirements for AMTA membership and continued
membership?
AMTA policy regarding continuing education (CE) states:
“Beginning with the first full year of Professional Active membership, a member is
required to complete 48 clock hours of continuing education every 4 years or provide NCBTMB or
NCCAOM-ABT certification and expiration date for renewal as a Professional Active member of
AMTA."
Educational programs used to fulfill this requirement must meet the following general
description: "an organized education experience directly related to massage therapy, which
is offered under
responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction."
The AMTA National Convention awards CE credits for educational programs which can be used
toward the AMTA continuing education membership requirement.
Is the AMTA an Approved Provider to offer continuing education credits?
Yes, the American Massage Therapy Association is approved by the National Certification Board
for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider.
The AMTA NCBTMB Approved Provider number is 024237-00.
How do I change my course
selections for the National Convention?
Changes in your educational session
selection will be accepted
only in writing through
September 1,
2009. No phone calls will be
accepted regarding changes in your session
schedule. Please contact
convention@amtamassage.org and identify
the educational session you are currently
registered for and the alternate session you
would like to attend. Please allow two (2)
weeks for a response. After September
1, all educational session change requests
will be done on-site at the National
Convention, pending space availability.
How do I submit my continuing education credits from the National Convention?
When a National Convention attendee registers for the convention their educational sessions
will be transferred into the attendee’s continuing education profile. Approximately three
(3) weeks after the National Convention, the continuing education profile
for each attendee will be updated from attendance records from each educational session which
offers CE credits. A member may access and print their continuing education profile
at
www.amtamassage.org at that
time.
Where is my Continuing Education Transcript located?
The continuing education transcript is located within the individual member’s profile on the AMTA’s web site. Log in to the web site at
www.amtamassage.org and click ‘View your
continuing education profile’ under ‘My
Profile’. A member can print their
transcript at any time.
What is on the Continuing Education Verification Card I receive at the National
Convention?
National Convention attendees are given a colored continuing education verification card.
This card identifies the following information:
- AMTA educational event name and dates
- AMTA NCBTMB provider number
- Massage Therapy Foundation NCBTMB provider number
- Space for a Florida license number (if applicable)
- Name, date, and number of credit hours of continuing education sessions
What do I do with the Continuing Education Verification Card I receive at the
National Convention?
National Convention attendees should turn
in and have their verification card stamped upon entry to
each educational session they attend. The stamped card is returned to the attendee upon
exiting the educational session so that it can be used for verification of other educational
sessions attended at the National Convention.
What are the attendance requirements in order to receive CE credit for an
educational session at the National Convention?
National Convention attendees must be present in the room within 15 minutes of the
published start time of the session. The verification
card is presented to the room monitor
upon entering so that the card can be stamped. The
certification card is returned to the
attendee at the conclusion of the educational session.
What do I do with the Continuing Education Verification Card after the National
Convention is over?
At the conclusion of the National Convention, the attendee retains the Continuing Education
Verification Card for their records.
If the state licensing body requires proof of continuing education credits, a copy of the
verification card can be sent to the state licensing body. A copy of the AMTA member’s
continuing education profile also can be submitted as evidence of continuing education credits.
A copy of the verification card can also be submitted to the National Certification Board
for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as proof of continuing education credits.
If I find that there is an error in my Continuing Education Profile specific to
continuing education credits from the National Convention what do I do?
