August Issue: Message From AMTA President Kathleen Miller-Read & FY 2009/2010 Annual Report

As a practicing massage therapist, I am very much aware that 2009 was a unique year for many of us. With the uncertainty brought on by a shaky economy and budgets stretched thin, we were all forced to change and adapt. However, I’m a firm believer that change isn’t always a bad thing.

I am proud to say AMTA has weathered the country’s economic storm and come ahead. How? AMTA leadership and staff resolved to keep expenses down and re-think some of the processes we once considered “tried and true”—all without impacting any of your member benefits, still the strongest in the profession. We listened to your concerns and, together, we made positive changes that  enabled us to grow stronger and remain financially strong.

I invite you to check out all that AMTA accomplished in the last fiscal year. From our incredible media outreach efforts that touched more than 100 million people to the launch of an innovative social media program and increased online education offerings, AMTA truly moved the profession forward.

We are already embarking on a very exciting year for FY 10/11—I think you’ll be pleased with the enhanced member benefits, education offerings and new resources to come!
