Entry-Level Analysis Project Update

Thank you to those in the profession watching the progress of the massage therapy Entry-Level Analysis (ELAP) workgroup. The workgroup met August 23–25 to review information gathered through several surveys conducted this summer.

The purpose of the ELAP is to gather and use research data and analysis of findings to inform the creation of an entry-level massage therapy education curriculum map. The workgroup is still in the early phases of gathering/analyzing existing information and conducting surveys. It will review information from the upcoming NCBTMB and FSMTB Job Task Analysis reports when the results are available in late September and compare the data to other information already gathered.

Early in 2013 there will be a period for public comment on the workgroup’s deliverables.

ELAP is a collaborative project stemming from the Massage Therapy Leadership Summits.

"One of the reasons I joined AMTA was the ability to be mentored and to mentor. It teaches what you cannot learn or read in a book or magazine—it's live hands on learning. I am David and I am AMTA."
