When submitting a resume or ad through the AMTA Classifieds or Job Bank, AMTA makes sure that the credit card information is secure. Unfortunately, attempts to acquire personal information and to defraud people who conduct online transactions are common on the internet. As stated, AMTA takes every reasonable step to ensure privacy on its website. Here are some common-sense principles to help protect yourself against scammers:
- If someone asks you to wire funds through services such as Western Union or MONEYGRAM they are most likely scamming you.
- A common scam is use of fake cashier’s checks and money orders. Your bank will initially cash them, but come back to you weeks later, when they are found to be fraudulent. You will be responsible for the money lost.
- Never provide anyone with your bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc. via email.
AMTA IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION BETWEEN PARTIES POSTING CLASSIFIED ADS and does not handle payments, guaranteed transactions, escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification".
