We work to accommodate your schedule, and our Wellness Tune-Up appointment hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00am-7:30pm, and Friday 9am-5pm.
DESCRIPTION
We offer a wide range of wellness programs that help people overcome the many challenges of coping with cancer. We are a nonprofit organization offering all programs free of charge to our participants, and rely on the skills and generosity of volunteers for many of our services.
Massage Therapists and other bodywork professionals at Wellness House offer 30 minute fully clothed relaxation “Wellness Tune-Ups” to people with cancer and their caregivers. Wellness House takes care of scheduling all appointments, making confirmation calls the day before, and providing volunteers with the appointment list. We have a massage room dedicated exclusively for bodywork sessions. Volunteers are asked to bring sheets for each appointment. Music is optional as we have a CD player and quiet music available.
REQUIREMENTS
In order to volunteer, you must be a licensed Massage Therapist in Illinois. We will need copies of your license and insurance, and consent for a background check.
IMPACT
A diagnosis of cancer and its countless challenges can be overwhelming - physically, mentally and emotionally. Massage is a tremendous favorite among participants and the more appointment times we can offer, the more can benefit. It’s a 30 minute gift of welcome relief when the rest of life is filled with stress and uncertainty.
