Volunteer Connections is a member benefit intended to connect AMTA members with available volunteer opportunities in their area. These opportunities may or may not be affiliated with AMTA. AMTA accepts submissions to Volunteer Connections on the following basis:

The American Massage Therapy Association prohibits preferential or adverse discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, gender, age, national or ethnic origin, marital status, religion, sexual orientation, or handicap in all areas including, but not limited to, its qualifications for membership, rights of members, policies, programs, activities, and employment practices and will not accept submissions that endorse a political party or candidate.  

AMTA reserves the right to edit postings to Volunteer Connections based on the need for clarification, space limitations or compliance with policy.

AMTA reserves the right to refuse or terminate any posting on Volunteer Connections based on the appropriateness of the content; demonstrating behavior in opposition to the AMTA Code of Ethics, the Scope of Practice for AMTA members, the AMTA Mission Statement, the AMTA Goals, AMTA's Policies and/or the AMTA Bylaws.  Examples of inappropriate content or design may include suggestive wording, suggestive poses, improperly draped or nude photos, disparagement of competitors, or false or misleading claims.  Reviews will be conducted by appropriate AMTA staff.

Postings can be refused or terminated for the following reasons:

  • Sexually suggestive wording, photos or images;
  • Promotion of prostitution, sexual surrogates, or escort services;
  • Substantiated fraud, deception, or illegal or unethical business practices;
  • Demonstrated behavior or content by the posting organization/individual considered to be opposed to the AMTA Code of Ethics, Scope of Practice for AMTA Members, the AMTA Mission Statement, AMTA’s  Policies, or the AMTA Bylaws;
  • Unsubstantiated claims regarding financial gain;
  • Political or religious in nature and/or advance specific beliefs;
  • Content which can be construed as unduly proselytizing, patronizing or derogatory to any person, group or cause;
  • Unsubstantiated claims for healing or curing ailments or diseases.

AMTA does not endorse and is not responsible for the content of any off-site pages or any other sites linked to these sites.

All decisions of AMTA staff with respect to the interpretation of the above-referenced policy are totally with AMTA staff's discretion and all such decisions are final.
