What are the requirements for membership?
AMTA offers several levels of membership and prices to suit your needs. The Join AMTA section of the Web site provides a breakdown of each of these levels of membership, their prices, and the qualifications to join.

How can I join AMTA?
Several easy methods are available for applying for AMTA membership. Visit the Join AMTA section and pay with with your Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card. You may print out an application and mail it to

Does AMTA provide liability insurance?
We provide professional and general liability insurance, which covers members for $2 million per incident and $6 million aggregate annually. Liability insurance is included in our Student (please note that Student members are provided with liability insurance coverage for school-sponsored and sanctioned activities while a student and professional coverage after graduation if you qualify), Graduate and Professional membership packages. What about medical insurance?
We also offer health, disability and other optional insurance plans. For more information on these plans, contact our insurance administrator, AGIA, at 866-803-6773 or visit www.amtabenefits.com. They will be able to answer any questions you have about any of our optional insurance plans.

The online application transferred me to a blank page or an error message. Should I resubmit the form?
No. Multiple submissions can result in multiple charges to your credit card. If this error occurs, contact AMTA at 1-877-905-2700, and Member Experience can confirm whether your application was received, and if not take your application and payment by phone. Please copy the error message and send it to info@amtamassage.org.

I can't login as a member. How do I do this?
The "Member ID or Username" is your AMTA membership number or a username created by you. You may find this number on the front of your membership card, or on the address label of MTJ. If your login is successful, a page will appear with a welcome message using your first name. If you have forgotten your password, click on the "forgot your password" link to reset your password. If you are still unable to login, make sure cookies are enabled in your browser. In Internet Explorer, this is done by selecting "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu, clicking on the "Privacy" tab, and adjusting the Privacy Level. A Privacy Level of "Medium" is best.

I don't see myself listed in AMTA's Find a Massage Therapist national locator service. Why am I not listed?
Listing in the Find a Massage Therapist national locator service is for Professional Active members only, and enrollment is voluntary. AMTA does not automatically list Professional Active members. To be listed, you may submit your Find a Massage Therapist profile page. You may also call the toll-free locator service number at 888-843-2682 and a representative will take your profile information over the phone. Again, you must be a Professional Active member to be listed.

How can I renew my membership?
You may renew directly online. You may also contact Member Experience toll-free at 1-877-905-2700 to complete your renewal over the phone, Monday through Friday, 8am-5:30pm Central Standard Time, or fax it to 847-864-5196.

How do I update my Continuing Education Hours?
You may manage your CE hours, state license information and national certifications by accessing the My Credentials page. In the event of a submission error, please e-mail all information required on the form to info@amtamassage.org and your information will be updated manually.

Where can I post a job advertisement or search for job listings?
The AMTA online Job Bank enables you to post and search for jobs and resumes. This section is free to members to search or post. There is a fee for non-members to post their job advertisement or resume.
